Effect of compost of municipal waste, nitrogen and phosphorous on dry matter yield

Abstract

A split plot factorial experiment based on randomized block design in four replications was performed in order to study the effect of three levels of compost (zero, 10 and 20 ton dry matter/ha), in main plots and three levels of nitrogen (zero, 100 and 200 kg/ha pure nitrogen) and three levels of phosphorous (zero, 60 and 120 kg/ha P2O) on corn yield. The effect of compost on different characteristics of corn was not significant. The interaction of compost, nitrogen and phosphorous on yield of dry matter, plant height and accumulation of P, Ca, Fe, Mn and Zn in areal parts of the corn was significant. The compost application increased the concentrations of K, Ca, Mn and Fe in areal parts of the corn.
