Study of agricultural practical training from the viewpoints of the students in the Campus of Agricultural and Natural Resources of University of Tehran

Abstract

The statistical population of this study consisted of 944 Post-graduate and under graduate Students, who were in their last academic year in the campus of Agricultural and Natural Resources the University of Tehran. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The content validity of the questionnaire was established by a panel of experts in the field of agriculture in the University of Tehran. A pilot study was conducted to establish the reliability of the instrument via agricultural students. Cronbach alpha's coefficient for the main scale of the questionnaire was higher than 0.75. The results of correlation analysis showed that there was negative significant relationship between quality of agricultural practical training and the diploma average marks of the students. There was positive significant relationship between the dependent variable and their interest to the subject. In order to identify the problems and obstacles of practical training in agriculture, factor analysis was applied. Accordingly, the problems were classified into four factors of quality of installations for practical training at the farm, motivation and experience of students on agriculture, skills and competencies of teachers in practical training and the quality of equipment for practical training in the campus. These four factors explained about 67 percent of variance of the data indicating problems for practical training.
