Author
Abstract
This experiment was conducted to determine the medullated content of‏ ‏inner coat of dromedary and ‎Bactrian camels kept in different provinces of Iran. A total of 438‎‏ ‏male and female (71 and 371) camels were ‎grouped into fifth classes and hair samples were taken from right midside of animals. Analysis of variance was ‎performed using general linear model way SAS package and the least square means were generated with this ‎program. Significant (P‏ ‏‎<‎‏ ‏‎0.01) difference was found in inner coat percentage between age groups and ‎provinces. There were significant (P‏ ‏‎<‎‏ ‏‎0.01) difference in the percentage of medullated and non medullated ‎fibers between the two species of camels, age groups and provinces. It was shown that the females and ‎yearling-2ed age group in Kerman province had higher inner coat percentage (82.64‎‏ ± ‏‎0.5 and 84.6‎‏ ± ‏‎1.2 %) ‎respectively. ‎
