Abstract

In order to choose the best adaptable genotypes for Arak condition, 31 genotypes of Crested wheatgrass collected of gene bank research institute of forests and rangelands iran, were examined under normal and drought stress conditions using randomized complete block design with 3 replications during 2004-05. The days to heading and days to pollination, Plant height (cm), number of tiller, spike length (cm), spikelet number per spike, flag leaf size (cm2), peduncle length (cm), 1000-grain weight (g), seeds weight (g) and number of seeds per ear, forage dry matter (DM) yield (Tonh-1), seed yield (Kgh-1), and harvest index were studied. The results of mean comparison and combined analysis showed that 341M, 3777P4, 287P8, 1369P6 genotypes with average values of 550, 506, 492 and 481 Kgh-1 for seed production and 341P11, 3477P4, 3965P15 genotypes with average values of 3.49, 3.47 and 3.01 Tonh-1 for forage production, had, higher values in two dry and optimum conditions. The genotype 3477P4 with average values of 3.47 Tonh-1 and 506.5 Kgh-1 and the genotype 341M with average values of 2.59 Tonh-1 and 550 Kgh-1, for forage and seed production, respectively was recognized and introduced as the best varieties.
